In our last episode we discussed some styling options for the groom for the big day as well other major occasions. We continue with our list, so choose wisely and make your day most remember able.

Jodhpuris or a Jodhpuri suit is very similar to a Sherwani, except that the bottoms are like riding pants. This is like the attire the royals of Rajasthan wear for formal occasions. It includes pants that are lose above the knees and become tight as they go down, along with a thigh link coat. It has a more modern and stylish look, as compared to a traditional Sherwani.

Best occasions to sport this look:

  • Jodhpuris in rich fabrics is best suited for the wedding ceremony. Team up with beads, a brooch and turban or a Safa to look class apart in wedding attire.
  • Jodhpuri in a lighter fabric and more subtle colour are great for the Reception and Engagement ceremony.

Formal suit

A formal suit has become a popular pick of attire as many grooms prefer the no-mess, comfortable and very dapper look of a formal suit over traditional wedding attires. This also has multiple options like a Tuxedo, a 2 or 3 button down suit, a three-piece or just a waistcoat look. All versions of the formal suit are equally stylish and never fail to impress.

Best occasions to sport this look:

  • A formal suit is great for the Reception party, Engagement party, Sangeet ceremony and Cocktail event.
  • A waistcoat for Sangeet or bachelor’s party
  • A Tuxedo for the Reception ceremony.

Denim as an attire would become a style statement in itself, as some occasions call for comfort and casual. For a day event in the summers and that too in the open space this can be the best option to play it cool and still look like a stylish groom while choosing to incorporate vibrant colours flaunt with comfort and ease.

Best occasions to sport this look

  • Pair jeans and a crisp white shirt for an intimate Sangeet, Mehndi or Haldi lunch function. It’s also a great look for a pre-wedding shoot.
  • Wear your favourite jeans, shorts or capris with a cool t-shirt for the bachelor’s party, a sundowner pool party or even a pre-wedding shoot.

This is an Indian wedding dress for groom that has influences from Indian heritage and culture. It is one of the most common and popular choices that one can have for the wedding or any of its related festivities. While being a similar choice to a sherwani, this traditional suit features a closed neck more often with velcro or few buttons at the top so that it gives a neat and perfect look to the entire ensemble.

Best occasions to sport this look:

  • Ideal for the wedding ceremony, reception or pre-wedding functions like an engagement.
  • Style a Bandhgala with a stone-studded brooch, a turban in a contrasting colour as well as a dupatta that is of the similar colour scheme to give a more traditional look.

Matching the wedding outfits with the bride is in trend. Color coordination, match safas with dupatta, match grooms shawl with brides dupatta, match prints of wedding outfits, match jacket with her skirt, etc.

Indian groom wedding wear is about details, so think wisely about the accessories like stylish pocket squares, customized pins and brooches, military embellishments, etc. Grooms can wear trendy safas with floral prints, benarsi safas, colored matching safas, silk safas, etc., as per their wedding outfits. Grooms can also pair big statement jewellery or necklaces with Indian wedding outfits. Pearls and Stones are the major choices.  Safa pins can also be paired as per wedding look. It all about choice and comfort, so choose wisely and enjoy your big day… Keep reading for more.
