With the pandemic seemingly never ending, most people have resorted to living with the spectre of COVID-19 around, while restrictions are still around many have worked within the rules to get married. We dedicated our last blog to bride’s ensemble and make-up tips, in this one we will discuss the next equally important person in a wedding – The Groom.

Currently, Indian wedding dresses for groom combine western styles, traditional Indian attires, fusion looks and casual and semi-casual looks. Indian wedding dresses for groom have evolved over the years and the grooms of today have a number of options and look to choose from. In fact, grooms today have no limitations when it comes to choosing fabrics, colours and prints, all thanks to our designers.

We have put together a list of styles that will ease out all the doubts and inhibitions and make you look like your best self on the big day and on all of the rest leading up to that big moment.

Dhoti Kurta

The classic and traditional Dhoti Kurta is an evergreen look for grooms to sport. It’s one of those Indian wedding dresses for groom that can never go out of style. Dhoti-Kurta happens to be one of the most humble Indian wedding dresses for groom and his groomsmen who can colour coordinate their outfits in accordance with that of the groom himself.

Best Occasions to sport this look:

  • Team Dhoti with a brocade Sherwani Kurta for the wedding ceremony
  • Team Dhoti with a plain Kurta in a bright colour for the Haldi, Roka or Mehndi function.

Kurta Pyjama

A Kurta Pyjama can easily be dressed up to make it a simple attire or a stunner one, choose between a straight-cut or Churidaar Pyjama.  By simply adding a jacket or a turban changes the complete look.

Best occasions to sport this look:

  • Wear a white Pyjama with a bold colour Kurta for Mehndi or Haldi ceremony.
  • Wear a plain Kurta Pyjama with a bright Nehru Jacket for Roka, Sangeet or Engagement ceremony.

For chic and stylish wedding ensembles opt for a Jacket and Trouser combination. Style comfortable trousers like Chinos with a sporty jacket or a more formal one, depending on the occasion or pre/post wedding photo shoot.

Best occasions to sport this look:

  • Wear Chinos Trousers with a sporty Jacket for the bachelor’s party
  • Wear Trousers with a semi-formal blazer for a bachelor’s party or a Sun-downer party.

This is probably the most worn attire for the wedding ceremony for groom,. A sherwani has a rich and regal look, usually made with heavier fabrics and embellishments, teamed up with a long Dupatta like a stole, a turban and even beads and chains gives the groom a well put together prince-like look.  For sherwanis go for off-beat colors like- grey, peach, mint green, mauve for a subtle look. Also, you can opt for classics like- wine, teal, antique gold, white sherwani.

Best occasions to sport this look:

  • Wear a simple or opulent Sherwani with a stole and turban for the wedding ceremony.
  • Wear a Sherwani top with simple pants for the Engagement. Style with a brooch.

We will continue with our list in the next edition, so keep reading for more
